Our mission is to mobilise citizens, institutions, schools, communities and innovators to build climate resilience from the ground up.
We believe in the collective wisdom of our communities — and that empowering them is the long-term strategy to rely on for building climate resilience.
The people closest to the problem are closest to the solution. Our job isn't to direct — it's to convene, connect, and get out of the way.
Our Mission
Our Philosophy
Resilience isn't handed down.
It's built street by street.
Ahmedabad Climate Action Week (ACAW) provides a platform for citizens, schools, institutions, innovators and communities to come together in new ways — celebrating local leadership and collective wisdom to shape a climate-resilient future for Ahmedabad and cities like it.
Rather than a single centralised conference, ACAW runs on a decentralised model. Local actors host their own events, in their own neighbourhoods, across the city. We curate, connect and amplify; the city does the rest.

About ACAW

Ahmedabad sits close to the Tropic of Cancer and has lived with heat for generations. Today it ranks among the world's most heat-stressed and least climate-resilient cities. But that is only half the story.
Ahmedabad is a city where community-led innovation and India' non violence movement has taken root — where neighbourhoods, institutions and everyday people have found their own ways to adapt, endure and organise. It is a city that has learned to outlive the heat. In 2013, it became the first city in India to design a dedicated Heat Action Plan — a model that has since shaped climate response across the country.
ACAW taps into this potential, spotlighting Ahmedabad not only as a city on the climate frontline, but as a source of practical, community-rooted resilience with lessons that travel. From schools and pols to enterprises, researchers, civic bodies and citizen groups, Ahmedabad's people are already shaping pathways toward a climate-resilient future. ACAW exists to connect them.
Why Ahmedabad?
A small circle, for now. It's meant to grow.
You didn’t come this far to stop
